Pivot Extends Into Third Party Research Aggregation

June 15, 2007

Pivot Solutions, a technology developer that specializes in real-time trade assistance, is planning to extend its platform to third-party research and data managers. Currently, when a sales trader is using the platform to communicate with the buyside client, he can instantaneously send over research and data aggregated by his company, but cannot channel third-party research that could possibly be useful. The company recently centralized research, distribution, messaging, security and aggregation on a single platform to simplify trading. "The question is how we can have real-time communication in a world where information is becoming increasingly fragmented," said Ed McDonnell, senior v.p. of sales.

Buyside institutions have increasingly demanded access to third-party research after concentrating execution in the hands of fewer and fewer brokerages. Automatically aggregating research and trading on one platform dramatically cuts down communications times , several traders said. Pivot recently did two case studies with a large asset manager and a brokerage, and determined that there was a need for centralized trading services, as both sides had difficulties communicating within the firm, let alone with each other. Its new centralized platform will be available next month.
